Helloooo my lovely Audacious Babes,
Just thought I’d let you know about the latest THE AUDACIOUS BABE PODCAST episode that just hit the virtual shelves of your podcast app of choice.
Today’s episode is all about BUSINESS PLANNING. Eek! I love a good planning session for your business. 🙂
Business Planning is a topic many find rather daunting and therefore just ignore it completely or are totally confused where to start in the first place with it.
Do I even need a business plan? What kind of template can I use?
These are just a couple of questions that immediately pops into your head, most likely, when thinking about business planning.
I can already tell you, as photographers, most likely you do NOT need to write a proper fully comprehensive 50-page traditional business plan … phew!!!
BUT (and this is a big but!) I do strongly believe that you do need some sort of strategic outlook, strategic planning, an outline, whatever you want to call it, that resembles the concept behind a business plan. What you need is CLARITY.
Clarity about your business, its surrounding, you internal and external structures and anything in-between. And for that a business plan or business planning can be tremendously helpful.
Hint hint, there are multiple tools that can help you to perform strategic planning but that are not as daunting as writing a fully comprehensive business plan in the traditional sense.
On this episode, I will cover 3 different business planning tools in total.
- The traditional fully comprehensive Business Plan
- The Business Model Canvas
- The One-Page Business Plan
I will dive deeper into what business planning actually is and why we would need it, I will bust some business planning myths that are out there before I then get into the nitty gritty of showcasing 3 different business planning methods that will help you to get into a business planning mindset and to develop that strategic thinking for your business.
There are obviously many more tools out there that you can make use of, but I just thought I’d mentioned the 3 main ones that I’ve used in the past either on my own business or with my students at the university when helping them to start their own businesses.
You can make all of these as complex or as simple as you’d like. Whichever method you might choose, the most important message that I want you to take away from this episode is though, that you HAVE to do some sort of business planning. Whichever way. Just do something. You need to put some strategic thinking behind running a business and making a plan which ever way is key for that clarity.
It will give you direction, defines your objectives, maps out strategies to achieve your goals and helps you to manage possible bumps in the road. To run a viable and sustainable business, you need some plan or strategy. I’m a massive firm believer of this and cannot stress this enough.
Listen to the full episode to learn more details about each of these 3 business planning tools and how to utilise them best to implement some strategic thinking for your business.
Enjoy!
With love,
Magdalena x
